3D 4D ULTRASOUND SCAN INFO 16WK SEXING SCAN
Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 8:55PM SEXING BABY
At 12-15 weeks, the success rate for being able to see the gender of baby is around 50% at best, and the accuracy at that gestational age is questionable.
At 16 weeks, the ability to find the gender and accuracy rises to 99%. The hospital do not offer sexing before your 20 week anatomy scan unless there is a medical reason that it is required for.
We always sex baby in 2D as 3D 4D imaging does not offer a valuble view of babies sex and may evan be missleading.
3D ULTRASOUND SCAN
4D 3D baby bonding ultrasoundscans are best done at 25–32 weeks, and ideally between 26 and 28 weeks. When baby is a good size but still has room to move freely.
After 32 weeks, there is an increased risk that the baby is very low in the pelvis and, getting 3D images of the baby is not always possible.
Unlike your early ultrasound scans, you will not need a full bladder for a 4D 3D ultrasound scan. Some times we may ask you to fill your bladder if baby is very low in your pelvis, this could help to lift babies head up just enough for us to get better 4d scan video & images.
To help to get good 3D 4D video & images, we advise you to drink an extra 2 large glasses of water (32 ounces/day) one to two weeks before your appointment. This is to ensure that your whole boby is well hydrated & there is an adequate amount of amniotic fluid around your baby and that the fluid is clear. Drinking water immediately before your 4D 3D ultrasound scan appointment does not help to get clearer 3D 4D ultrasound scan video or images.

4D 3D ultrasounds are already being used to detect fetal anomalies of the heart. 4D 3D ultrasounds may be used in the near future for actual neurological and behavioral testing of baby to help diagnose or rule out cerebral palsy.
